Among the innovations born from academic research in Lyon, TouchyFinger® stands out as the first biomimetic device for augmented tactile palpation. Designed to objectively assess the perceived softness of skin, hair, or any surface, it transforms a sensory feeling into scientific data.
Directly inspired by the functioning of mechanoreceptors (Merkel, Meissner, Ruffini, Pacini), TouchyFinger replicates the natural gesture of a sliding finger. Equipped with a half-ring integrating vibration and force sensors, it measures in real time both the intensity and frequency of micro-vibrations generated by contact, as well as the applied pressure. These data are transmitted wirelessly to a tablet, where an algorithm analyzes the differentiated activation of the tactile receptors.
The result: a quantified softness index (La, in dB), perfectly correlated with human perception and validated by expert sensory panels. Reliable and reproducible, this score makes it possible to precisely evaluate the sensory effects of cosmetic treatments, before and after application.
Finalist of the Jury Prize – The Cosmetics Victories 2021 (Cosmetic Valley), TouchyFinger® has been recognized as a breakthrough tool to objectify sensorial evaluation and support the development of more innovative and personalized cosmetic products.
