SENSILIPS: A In Vivo Device for the Tribological Evaluation of Lipstics
Testing and analysesResearch and formationSENSILIPS is a connected in vivo device designed to objectively evaluate the tribological properties of lipsticks during their application on the vermilion.
By reproducing the natural gesture of application, SENSILIPS® simultaneously measures the friction forces and vibrations generated by product gliding. Two key parameters are extracted: La (dB), which reflects the intensity of tactile stimulation of the vermilion, and Cf, the friction coefficient characterizing gliding quality.
The study was conducted at the LTDS (Laboratory of Tribology and Systems Dynamics, École Centrale de Lyon, CNRS UMR 5513) using several lipstick formulations. It highlights the direct influence of tribological properties on sensory perception and application comfort.
SENSILIPS therefore represents a major advance in cosmetic biometrology, by integrating objective criteria directly linked to the user experience, and opens the way to improved formulation optimization as well as product positioning based on perceived well-being.
